CBP: Importers are urged to make certain that they are working with reputable suppliers

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is charged with enforcing trademark, patent and copyright laws governing imported products. Due to a growing number of seizures of counterfeit and pirated goods CBP has put in place a plan of action to help increase enforcement. Importers are urged to make certain that they are working with reputable suppliers and that any goods that they import that are subject to trademark, patent or copyright protections are legitimate. Under this new plan of enforcement importers will be held fully liable for any goods they import that are in violation.
