Threat of US rail strike looms

The unions representing the railroads in the US have been negotiating with those railroads since 2020 but there is concern a widening impasse may lead to strike action in the near future. A rail strike would shut down the US rail system resulting in added costs and delays for US importers that rely on the rail system to move their cargo. A strike would impact a significant amount of US import cargo.

Importers are urged to contact their elected representatives and make their voice heard regarding the need for the Federal Government to work with the rail companies and unions to prevent a strike and move forward contract negotiations.
