UFLPA Enforcement To Begin

On March 18th, US Customs (CBP) will begin full, automated enforcement of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). Importers who source products in this geographic area need to take immediate steps to ensure that they may continue importing their products since the UFLPA will deny entry for many products from this region.

Every importer needs to exercise due diligence in sourcing their products and ensure that their suppliers are not a risk to their supply chain. CBP expects every importer to take the steps necessary to comply with every regulation and requirement governing their products. The failure to comply can result in significant financial risk including cargo delays, cargo seizure, CBP penalties, and in some cases even criminal investigation. Now more than ever, importers must be proactive so that they don't face any bad "surprises" down the road.
